General Overview

The OE chat box is arguably one of the most important aspects of the game. It allows players to communicate with each other instantly, whether it be a faction coordinating an attack, veterans helping new players, players trading market items, or simply chatting for fun.

The First Rule of Chat

Outer Empires is a game with a wide age range of players, and the language used in the game will reflect this. Every player at every login signs the Terms of Service agreement (TOS), which is quite clear about language.

Foul langauge will get you banned.

What are friends lists?

Friends lists allow you to see when people are logging in to the game (and later will show you whether they're online or offline at any particular time). Note that you will only see this information when that character is added to your friends list.

What are ignore lists?

Ignore lists allow you to ignore (block) chat information from any player that is added to your ignore list.

List of Channels

When you log in to the game, you will automatically be in the following chat channels:

  • General
  • Trader
  • [Newbie, if you are new to the game]
  • [Your Faction's channel, if applicable]

Other channels you can join voluntarily include:

  • Newbie (if you aren't new to the game)
  • Iron Union's public chat channel ("/j ironunion")
